The BC Genealogical Society presents an all day seminar with John D. Reid in Burnaby, September 18, 2010.

Seminar Topics:

– Early 20th Century British Immigrants to Canada

– Some lesser-known websites for British family history

– Find Your Family History in Newspapers Online

John D. Reid was a Board member, then President of the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa (BIFHSGO) from 2004 to 2006. His blog, ‘Anglo-Celtic Connections’ was named as one of 2010’s ‘50 Best Blogs for Genealogy Geeks’ by Online Universities.

John is author of Researching Canada`s Home Children, editor of The Ottawa Sharpshooters, and the author of magazine articles in Anglo-Celtic Roots, Families, Your Family Tree(UK), Family Tree (UK), Family Chronicle, Internet Genealogy and The Ottawa Genealogist. He is a member of the Society of Genealogists and, since 2007, a member of the Library and Archives Canada Services Advisory Board.

Seminar Details:

Scandinavian Community Centre, 6540 Thomas St., Burnaby, BC.

Doors open at 8:30 am. Seminar 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Early Bird Prices until September 8, 2010.

Tickets $40.00 for BCGS & Affiliate Society Members; $50.00 for
non-members (lunch & refreshments included).
